I love making balls — little bit of this and that and you’ve got yourself a convenient and yummy snack on the go. I used to bring little baggies full of balls to work to snack on all day. I love this fig and hemp combo. Adding hemp seeds adds a very distinct nutty, earthy flavor. This combined with sweet figs, a pinch of salt and a dusting of bitter cocoa powder creates a wonderful little bite!
Ingredients (makes about 6 mini balls):
2 oz. or about 10 dried mission figs
1/2 cup almonds and cashews
1 tbsp hemp seeds
pinch of salt
unsweetened cocoa powder for coating
1. Place figs in food processor and process until a crumbly texture forms and the figs are all in very small pieces. Put pureed figs in a medium bowl and set aside.
2. Place the nuts in the food processor and pulse until the nuts form a fine meal texture. Pour ground nuts in with the figs. Add the hemp seeds and salt. Mix using your hands until everything is combined.
3. Pour some cocoa powder into a bowl to roll the balls in. Form the mixture into balls (big or small) and then roll them into the cocoa powder to lightly coat. Store in fridge or freezer.
